Astrology isn’t for you, please don’t fall for their trickery. Dabbling in astrology and zodiac symbolism and horoscopes is a dangerous game. You can’t dabble in the zodiac symbolism and come away from it unscathed.

Before you came to know Christ, you may have dabbled innocently with zodiac signs or gotten heavily ingrained. When Christ makes you a new creation (in Him), you must learn to renew your mind and remove the remnants of the teachings contrary to your life in Him (Romans 12:1-2). Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, it’s spiritually hazardous to tangle with zodiac charts and symbolism.

Many professing Christians, entrepreneurs, athletes, celebrities, and social media influencers are quick to tell you it’s Capricorn or Virgo season or any other zodiac identifiers, but this is not of Christ. God provided instructions to make choices, decisions, and judgments based on the Bible as opposed to zodiac alignment.

A couple of years back, I made a video and wrote about Christians and Zodiac signs. Reading the comments under the video blessed my heart. The footage helped numerous people see the realities of how dishonorable it is to partake in this seemingly innocent pastime. If you are not astute, you can get wrapped up in the occult practice of astrology due to unawareness of its history. If you read Leviticus and Deuteronomy, God judged Israel harshly for dabbling in the abominable traditions of the other nations.

An abomination is something The Lord labels as hate. God still condemns anyone that dares to look to the sun, moon, stars, and zodiacs for guidance as we are to look to Him for answers.

Does God Approve Astrology?

Thousands of years ago, people did not have calendars and clocks as we do. Therefore, they relied on the seasons and position of the stars to tell time and seasons; this falls under astronomy.

Astronomy is science-based and examines planetary objects, locations, movements, and details. On the contrary, astrology (not to be confused with astronomy) studies how you’re affected by and relate to astronomy. God does not approve of astrology in any form. Astrology is what zodiacs are categorized within. Astrology applies the status of the planets, sun, and moon and links them to your time and place of birth to explain your personality and future.

You already know this isn’t right!

Watchman Fellowship’s Profile on Astrology states, “Although heavily laden with psychological terminology today, astrology’s roots and current practice are firmly planted in the occult. Astrology is a form of divination. However, much of its modern adepts may deny that word or concept.”

Oxford Dictionary defines divination as the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.

The only supernatural we should be dabbling with is that of our Lord God.

Proceed with Caution

When you engage in a conversation with someone that tells you your future, more likely than not, you’re dealing with a spirit—and I don’t mean the Holy Spirit. I say dealing with a spirit cautiously because I believe God still speaks to His children today. Usually, there’s a way to confirm Him speaking through His Word or the Holy Spirit over time.

I visited a church years ago, and the pastor prophesied about my future. I was at a low point spiritually, and he didn’t know anything about me.

His encouragement didn’t share specific details, and I couldn’t see the vision during that time. Butttttt that pastors’ words got confirmation because the very thing he told me came to fruition through God a few years later and it aligned with scripture.

Therefore, I do not dismiss how God can use someone He’s called to encourage us.

But don’t be misled.

You are to test the spirit by the Spirit according to the Bible. When Paul and Silas were evangelizing in Macedonia, the men beat them severely after casting out the demon in the fortune teller slave girl. Relying on Zodiacs is the same as the demonic entity that worked through her.

Acts 16:16-19 NIV says, Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. ¹⁷ She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” ¹⁸ She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

The spirit left the girl, and the money-making concluded. So, don’t be deceived; you reap what you sow. Something that sounds good and right can be a familiar spirit.

Why Obey?

What would you need God for if you can get all the power, answers, luck, and prosperity from aligning with a horoscope?

If it were that easy, Soulful, you’d have everything you ever wanted, and you wouldn’t have any desire to seek or know God.

Deception and sins still separate the Believer from the Father. The enemy of your soul has a goal to keep you from gazing upwards to The Lord who sits high above in the highest heaven. Satan is the g-o-d of this world system, and if you are unaware of what the Bible teaches about harmful practices such as the occult, divination, and zodiacs—you’ll continue worshiping the created things opposed to the Creator.

King Saul was commissioned, by God, to eradicate the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:1-3). Consequently, Saul only halfway obeyed. He did not destroy their King (Agag). Additionally, Saul kept the best of everything from the plunder, including sheep and cattle. He also had the nerve to sacrifice these things to God! Saul’s disobedience caused God to grieve about ever making him King over Israel.

Displaced loyalty to God is a huge no-no. But, don’t get it twisted, we too have some Saul moments.

Consequences of Astrology Worship

The LORD put to death those practicing the divining occult sorcery of zodiac worship just as well as He did false prophets. The information you interpret and receive in the zodiac books and horoscopes comes from writers and researchers who practice evil. They do not share God’s instructions because they don’t know God.

When the new generation of Israel wandered in the desert towards the Promised Land, Moses reminded them in Deuteronomy to focus on all God did to bring them out of Egypt and never forget His commandments. They were to turn from all the destructive things they learned as enslaved people and renew their minds.

Deuteronomy 4:19 NIV says, And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

Since Israel did not have a picture of God, and all the surrounding nations made carved or metal images of theirs, they constantly struggled with following the God they could not see. The need to see and feel what’s real is why zodiac signs, psychics, and the like can be tempting for any of us. We want to see who we’re relating to, but that’s where our faith in God’s character and trust in His Word comes in.

Discipline and Faith

The Holy Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word to His people. The more you get to know the God of the Bible, you will realize He has every solution to every problem. You must have faith and trust Him fully to bring about His purpose for your existence.

It’s natural for anyone to want to know:

• How to be financially successful
• Who to court
• If you can have children
• What job to take
• Where to locate a missing person
• If you will get married
• What city you should live in

But, don’t sin against God by reading all about zodiacs to get these answers. These questions should cause the Believer to seek the Holy Spirit for help and not shortcut His process. Your impatience will cause God to discipline you harshly for overriding Him.

In conclusion

You’ll always miss God’s best when you lean into the zodiac sign to learn about your personality or life. I encourage you to grow deeper in the Word of God.

Psalm 12:6 ESV says The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.

You can take the authentic Word of God to the bank because it will not return insufficient. It’s dependable, trustworthy, and reliable. You have incredible gifts from God, more wondrous than your imagination. You don’t need to depend on the sun or moon position of the zodiac. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.
