Be Encouraged—A Message for the Hurting Soul After Loss

Be encouraged is a message for the hurting soul after experiencing loss. Yesterday some people woke up excited about the day ahead. The agendas established, and off they went to enjoy what they hoped to accomplish. In some cases, their plans involved sharing moments and making memories with others, which would make their day even more exciting.

But as the day progressed—within the twenty-four-hour marker—their life on this earth expired.

They’d never finish the entire day. Their spirit and soul left their body before the stroke of midnight. God’s timetable called them to the next destination.

Sadly, we never know when our time is up on this earth. Our time marker to leave this life is something God does not reveal to us. Therefore, this not knowing—makes grief and loss so hard to cope with. One minute, people are connecting with a loved one, co-worker, or associate, and the very next minute, they’re gone.

Loss is such a shock to our humanity—even when we know that physical death is inevitable.

But God is the ultimate comforter.

Jesus can sympathize with your pain and your loss. Healing and grieving is a process with various stages, and to rush them can cause more pain.

Many will grieve differently than others.

Nonetheless, during this process, I offer my sincerest sympathy, prayers, and condolences to all of you experiencing grief and hurt from the loss of someone you loved and inspired you.

This kind of pain never feels good. Even when you know they are in a better place, in our humanity, we break when we lose a loved one. Accepting that loud absence is sorrowful and painful as it rings loud as a bass drum or as blaring as a trumpet.

The loss of:

  • Destiny HarrisonYoung Baltimore Salon Owner, she died at 21.
  • Dr. Lois Evans—The wife of Dr. Tony Evans and mother of Evangelist Priscilla Shirer. She was a Minister and First Lady of Oakcliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX; she died at 70.
  • Jack Van Impewas a faithful servant of Christ and Televangelists. He was one of the most exceptional End Times Prophecy Teachers that ever taught; he died at 88. His Show Jack Van Impe Presents was based out of Royal Oak, Michigan, and aired on TBN for over 20 years. He served the Lord in ministry for 70 years.
  • NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant was drafted into the NBA at age 18 and had one of the most successful careers spanning 20 years in the game. His accomplishments to the sports world earned him the title of a legend—one of the best that ever played the game. His work ethic was unstoppable, and portrayed in his five national NBA Championship wins and many other accolades. He died at age 41 alongside his daughter Gianna Bryant (13 yrs old). She also loved playing basketball.

These deaths hit hard. There were also seven others on the helicopter, with Kobe, that perished too. How heartbreaking.

And let’s not forget the everyday people that transitioned. The names and faces that the world does not know. The ones you and your loved ones know, but we don’t. God loved them and cared deeply for them. Their life made an impact in some way, and we want to remember them too.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV says, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

Matthew 11:28 NKJV says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
