Are you tired of living your life and running your business through the lens of an imposter and emotions? Here, we will highlight what is the cure for my soul with a focus on your thought life. The previous post, “What is the Cure for My Soul ,” laid the foundation for understanding why we need a soul cure. I hope that you have moved closer to understanding the cure for the soul. We learned that Jesus Christ came to cure the soul and transform us through His salvation, sanctifying work, and powerful grace, which is made possible through faith. Since the soul comprises the mind, will, and emotions. The soul refers to the essence of “you”, encompassing the personality and intellect.
Transformation and healing of the soul can take place through faith. God regenerates your heart through the blood of the Lamb—our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This new birth process is accompanied by a renewal of the mind, aligning with the working through of the truths found in God’s Word.
As The Soul Coach, my purpose is to help you explore the depths, issues, and layers of your soul, nourishing it through the Word of God, faith, and action. Soul-healthy leaders can then be better positioned to run profitable, purposeful businesses more effectively than those who are stressed and bombarded with emotional traumas, thoughts, and baggage.
By understanding what it takes to live a soul-healthy life in Christ, you will unlock a deeper connection with the Triune Godhead—God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost—and experience the abundant life Jesus promises for your life and purpose-driven business.
Soul Thoughts - What Are You Thinking?
So, what is the cure for your soul when it comes to managing your thought life? A thriving and well-nurtured soul develops from the practice of introspection, where one takes the time to consciously reflect on one’s thoughts and emotions. Reflection isn’t just about noticing what’s going through your mind, but also about actively engaging with those thoughts, questioning their origins, and understanding their impact on your overall well-being.
By diving deeper into your mental landscape, you become more self-aware, which leads to greater clarity. This ongoing process of contemplating your mental processes permits personal growth and a more profound connection with your inner man and the Holy Spirit.
The mind is a part of your heart and soul, and the mind processes thousands of thoughts per day. “A research study conducted at Queen’s University in Canada in 2020 utilized fMRI scans to explore how frequently individuals transition between thoughts, revealing that an average person experiences about 6,200 thoughts each day. The focus of the study was on how often these transitions occur, rather than on the specific details of the thoughts themselves.”
If we’re processing so many thoughts daily, can you imagine the weight this has on the soul?
Thoughts can range from an onslaught of anxious and random to loving and gentle ones. Nonetheless, I can almost guarantee the negative and random ones outweigh the loving ones.
															Drifting Soul Thoughts
Do you ever find yourself worrying that your business will never succeed, and feeling the weight of not having enough clients or sufficient funds to keep things afloat?
What about believing you’re ill-equipped to share the gospel truth with that client?
When considering soul thoughts, it’s interesting how easily our minds can spiral into doubt or conflict. It’s like a wrestling match with your heart and will.
There may be days when you just don’t feel good at anything you try, and your will to spring into action just isn’t activated. You may find your mind filling in the blanks with thoughts like, “I can’t,” “I should…” and getting stuck in comparisons, and wondering, “Why do others seem to succeed while I struggle?”
Even concerns like what you’ll wear tomorrow or how your hair looks can feel way too important. It’s a wild mix of self-reflection that reveals just how powerful our thoughts can be.
For example, the mind processes statements such as:
- This business is never going to work.
 - I don’t have any clients, so I’ll have to close the doors.
 - I don’t have enough money to pay the bills.
 - I’m no good at anything I try.
 - I can’t… (fill in the blank).
 - What is on the schedule for tomorrow?
 - What am I going to wear?
 - I love/hate the way my hair looks today.
 - Why are they so successful and not me?

Are you picking up what I’m putting down? Do these thoughts reflect God’s promises? God wants us to be aware of what we’re thinking within our renewed and sanctified minds.
Instead, focus on the goodness of your new life and identity in Christ, as you’ll see below in The Soul-Transformation.
Arrest and Capture - Taking Every Thought Captive
When managing the thought life of your soul, think of a war scene and how fast ammo flies through the war zone. The thoughts invading your mind can often move that fast. Most believers haven’t fully grasped the revelation of taking every thought captive and renewing the mind. Yes, God has given you the authority to do this—to stand above the spiritual warfare and enemy attacks!
You don’t have to be the victim of your mindset or the thoughts that creep in to hinder you from living out and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
Taking thoughts captive is a good start to curing the soul through the Spirit’s sanctification. It involves what one writer says, “Think about what you’re thinking about.” Although we are saved by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, we come into our new life as babes (2 Corinthians 5:17). As babes in Christ, we start our life by feeding off of the pure milk of the Word of God and eventually grow up in our salvation (1 Timothy).
The Apostle Paul describes our work of spreading the good news and doing anything to glorify Christ as spiritual warfare. We also know that the battle of free will, between obeying and not obeying, takes place in the soul.
Soul Dependency Before Salvation
We’ve developed a habit of dependency before salvation. Before we got saved, we were used to operating with our hearts, souls, and flesh dominating how we made decisions and processed information. Therefore, we relied on our charm, intellect, will, and desires, and treated excessive thoughts that we rarely questioned their origin or organized them correctly. We were under Satan’s influence, and he kept a battle going in our minds to prevent us from hearing the truth.
Matthew Henry expresses in Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, “What opposition is made against the gospel by the powers of sin and Satan in the hearts of men. Ignorance, prejudices, beloved lusts, are Satan’s strong-holds in the souls of some; vain imaginations, carnal reasonings, and high thoughts, or proud conceits, in others, exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, that is, by these ways the devil endeavours to keep men from faith and obedience to the gospel, and secures his possession of the hearts of men, as his own house or property.”
But now, as rescued vessels of mercy, living stones, and as new creations in Christ, we are spiritually alive, and our spirit can now commune with God. We can now let the work of the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus do the job in and through our souls, renewing them.
During the growing phase, we move from the elementary teachings of salvation to the meatier matters of our walk as Christians (1 Tim). The work of transformation is now taking place as long as we persist. The truth of God’s holy Word makes it possible to take thoughts captive and match them against what He says and promises.

															The Soul-Transformation
One way we mature in our soul’s thought life is by surrendering to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and letting Him transform our mind, will, and emotions—the soul. As we do this, we mature spiritually and work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Romans 12 begins by speaking of how the renewing of your mind must transform you, and this is what Cure 4 the Soul is all about.
Proverbs 4:20-23 KJV
My son, attend to my words;
Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes;
Keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them,
And health to all their flesh.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence;
For out of it are the issues of life
23
Romans 12:1-2 KJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJVTherefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Ephesians 4:23 KJV That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.[1]
Philippians 4:4-8 KJV Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are shonest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Therefore, in order for the soul work to progress, we must put in the time to learn and grow in the knowledge of Christ in order to know His will for our lives as new creations. Placing our faith in His promises will keep us from settling in and meditating on unbeneficial thoughts. You must change your thinking. When you fill your mind with God’s thoughts (His Word), you’ll experience soul-transformation—it’s a good way to live.
